Simala Nature Experience

At Simala Retreat, experiences unfold at a natural pace — shaped by forest, river, and mountain light. Each offering is thoughtfully curated and led by experienced local teams, allowing guests to explore with ease, confidence, and a sense of quiet discovery

Riverside Picnic on the Rangeet

A short walk leads to a peaceful riverside clearing below the property. With wide valley views and the steady sound of flowing water, guests enjoy a thoughtfully prepared picnic using fresh, local ingredients.

Time is intentionally left open — for walking along the riverbank, reading, or simply sitting with the landscape. On cooler days, a small bonfire may be arranged.

Late morning to early afternoon is ideal.

Jungle Walk through Baigunay Forest

This guided forest walk begins from the retreat and moves into the Baigunay forest, an area known for its birdlife, native trees, and seasonal flora. The pace is unhurried, allowing space to pause, listen, and observe forest rhythms.

Guests learn about local ecology, medicinal plants, and the subtle signs of wildlife while walking shaded trails and gentle slopes.

Early mornings offer the richest forest activity and cooler temperatures.

Sunrise at Durpinay

A pre-dawn drive takes guests to the Durpinay viewpoint, where first light slowly illuminates Mount Kanchenjunga and the surrounding valley. The stillness of the early hour and changing colours of the sky create a quiet, reflective start to the day before returning to Simala for breakfast.

Weather dependent.

Village Walk to Chiso Pani

Begin directly from Simala, following forested paths that gently descend to the Rangeet River. Cross the water by stepping over stones or wading barefoot, depending on the season, before walking upstream along dramatic rock formations and open valley views.

The walk leads to Chiso Pani village, where time slows during a local home visit. Guests share tea, observe vegetable farming and livestock practices, and gain insight into a self-sustained way of life rooted in the land.

Best experienced in the morning or late afternoon, when the valley is calm and light is soft.

Singla Tea Garden Walk

Walk through the rolling landscapes of Singla Tea Garden with a local guide who shares insights into tea cultivation, seasonal cycles, and plantation life. Misty rows, open views, and gentle paths make this a relaxed yet informative experience.

Best enjoyed in the late morning
